We are proud to announce that all the CSA Memberships for this year are now sold! Thank you all for helping us reach our goal for 2009!
To all hoping to become a member this year, please keep Solaris Valhalla in mind for the 2010 CSA season.

What Is A CSA Program:
CSA stands for Community Supported
Agriculture. It is a relatively new alternative food system in our area.
It is an agreement ,for one growing season, between a Farmer and a group
of interested people. A CSA program is established to help support small
farms, and gives the members the benefits of eating seasonal, fresh,
organically grown local produce. Each farm's CSA program is individually
managed and no two CSA programs are alike. Involvement in a CSA program
creates a micro community that allows members to know where, and how
their food is grown. Members receive produce and fruit that is completely
free of pesticides, herbicides, and genetic modification.
What Is The Solaris Valhalla
CSA Program:
The Solaris Valhalla CSA Program
is simple. As a CSA member, you join for the whole season, which entitles
you to receive a weekly share of the produce grown on the farm for 24
weeks. You pay the farmer directly for your share(s) before the begriming
of the season. This provides a secure retail market for the farm's crops.
This gives financial stability to the farm, which in turn enables the
farm to commit to high quality, organically grown, heirloom produce
at fair prices for you. With the Solaris Valhalla's CSA Program there
are no retailers, middle men, or government subsidies involved. It's
just Solaris Valhalla, and our Members working together to sustain the
farm and each other while providing high quality food for our community.
Join the Solaris Valhalla CSA Program and become part of the growing
movement striving to keep water and soil safe as well as maintain open
spaces and farmland for the future. Help us put the culture
back in agriculture!
What Do You Get For A Weekly
Share:
As a CSA member you will receive
a
selection of vegetables, herbs, and sometimes flowers, both edible and
decorative on a weekly basis. You will get a box that is approximately
1/3 bushel in size (16"X16"X14" box), this Shares Box will be filled
with a variety of veggies, herbs, and fruit when available (and occasionally
edible and/or decorative flowers). The
list below is the short list of our planting list for 2009. Please be
aware that we may plant other crops that are not listed, and that some
crops may fail due to weather, pests, or other conditions beyond our
control. We will notify our Members of any updates via our Members Newsletter
which can be mailed, emailed, or delivered with your weekly share pick-up.

The Risks:
Be aware that there are a few reasons
why a CSA share might not be right for you. We cannot always plant exactly
the vegetables and herbs you want in every season. Even if we did, we
cannot predict the changes in weather, pests, and the innumerable other
circumstances that can occur on every farm, year to year. A Solaris Valhalla
CSA Share is great for someone who is willing to try new vegetables and
herbs, and can adapt their recipes to utilize the vegetables they have
at hand. Solaris Valhalla cannot create the selection you will find at
the grocery store, so don't purchase a share if you are unable to be a
little creative in the kitchen.
